Your alt bracket should only fit properly one way. Try it, be patient. which bracket? the on the block or for the tensioner? The pulley, use pentrating oil, and an impact. You should be able to hold it by hand, if it doesn't have sharp edges

Thanks for the input on the pulley. To clarify i was referring to the tesioner bracket, the bracket was flipped upside down ( i believe) by the previous owner so i flipped it the other way (the way dipicted in my repair manual). This caused the bolt which you use to tighten the the tensioner to keep popping out. I tightened it the other day and the other bolt(the one which goes through the tesioner bracket and threads into the alternator) to break. Anyway I picture would realy be helpful if anyone has one.

Probably, there is no "other end" you can hold to tighten it by hand. Put it on as far as you can by hand, and give a shot with the impact. I haven't looked for that pic you were askin for, do you still need it?

I would like the pic if its not too much trouble. I do have the alternator apart and can get a strap wrench around the shaft (otherwise i cant get my hands on an impact til monday), would that do?

I was only able to find one other alternator picture but it was the same as the one posted above however this is how my alternator sits right now and I cant figure out how to make it right.

You have the bracket bolted in the wrong spot. that's for a small reinforcement to the motor mount. The spot your lookin for is down, just in behind the water pump pulley! Good Luck, you'll need it.! Do you have long skinny fingers? HaHa

You have the tensioner bar attached to the wrong bolt.
It bolts onto one of the water pump bolts and the water pump pully has to be removed to get it on.
When in the right position the bar will run on the inside of the power steering pully and line up properly with the alternator.

Not trying to be the storm cloud on everyones day but even if you get the tensoner arm back to where its suppose to be.....im not sure you'll be able to get it back together properly. It looks like the brainiack that did this hacked the "fork" like end off the tensoner arm. :pat: Not to mention the long ass bolt with the shoulder on it they used to reach the alternator. That isn't going to work when you get the arm in its proper place. That's if there's any threads left in the alternator.

Well to all the people who posted I'd like to say thankyou. And to the previous owner I'd like to give a great big ":madfawk:"
At least the problem has been identified and i can begin trying to unF-ck it up.
I think i will start by removing the engine mount since its just getting in the way.
