I'd be interested to hear your take on this mark.. is the mechanic to blame or is spec? sucks regardless, I guess a scatter shield could of prevented some of the damage.

That's quite a mess Nick, would not want to be driving that one when it happened.
It's very hard to speculate what may have caused this and I didn't read the whole thread, just the original post and pics.
In this case the clutch disk was still in one piece, so I would be inclined to say the flywheel flew apart.
First off any flywheel that is being machined should be inspected very carefully for stress cracks. Second I have seen flywheels that have been poorly machined, causing the flywheel to be way out of balance. Also, being a two piece flywheel would make it worse.
If the flywheel was out of balance due to assembly or machining, you may not notice it under light load and low rpm, but once you go to high load and high rpm it's a bomb waiting to go off.
Any rotating assembly has a rpm limit, when it reaches that limit it can no longer hold it's self together. The heavier the assembly the lower the rpm limit, also if most of the weight is on the outer circumference, the sooner it will let go. This is why we go with one-piece light weight steel flywheels, a much more trustworthy piece.
Obviously, if the installer didn't properly torque and mount all the components, failure could also happen.
My guess would be that the flywheel was either damaged or out of balance and when it went to high rpm, it blew apart.
A proper scatter-shield would have reduced the damage to other parts, but it would not have eliminated it.

i see massive uneven heat marks on the flywheel plus uneven wear on clutch disc for a babied clutch break in and 1 hard pass something was off plus lots of heat i would guess ? guys probobly a young guy, evos are $$$ feel bad for the guy.
